Local charity Women’s Aid ABCLN is calling all adventure seekers to take part in a Europa Abseil Challenge this Spring.
Women’s Aid ABCLN Communication and Engagement Manager Arlene Creighton says “Join us for Women’s Aid ABCLN’s Europa Abseil Challenge on Sunday 21st May. Brave the heights to abseil 120ft down Belfast’s iconic Europa Hotel and help us raise vital funds for women and children affected by domestic abuse.”
Local woman Melissa Kirkpatrick from Antrim took part in the challenge back in 2019. She says “Abseiling down the Europa was on my bucket list for years and when Women’s Aid ABCLN put out the call I grabbed the opportunity. The views over Belfast were incredible and I really enjoyed it.”
Women’s Aid ABCLN provides confidential support, information and emergency accommodation for women and children who are affected by domestic abuse across Antrim, Ballymena, Carrickfergus, Larne and Newtownabbey.
Arlene says “One in four women will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime. PSNI respond to one incident of domestic abuse every 16 minutes. For every incidence we know the impact on women and children can be devastating.”
“We believe that no-one should have to live in fear or threat from abuse.”
